Kevin Ochieng Obede a graduate from the University of Nairobi with a first class degree in Actuarial science. The 24-year-old also managed to score straight A’s at Maranda High School before proceeding to the University of Nairobi. Ochieng’ has been sleeping on the streets and washing cars  Ksh50-100 since 2018.

His story which was aired on local TV Program, Citizen. Since then State corporations, County Governments and top private companies have since come calling. Ironically, Kevin had applied for a job in some of these companies, for instance, Deloitte. Other companies that were on the hunt for Kevin were; Naivas Supermarkets, Vivo Energy, UAP Old Mutual, TripleOKLaw Advocates, Jamii Bora Bank, Resolution Health East Africa Ltd and the Kenya Ports Authority.
Several Kenyans touched on the use of connections for one to get a job in Kenya. ‘In most cases it is never about what you know its who you know, you must be connected to get a job.’ Jalang’o.
