The Deputy President, William Ruto has today attended his brother’s dowry negotiation. This tradition is popularly refereed to as ‘koito’ in Kalenjin. The dowry negotiation took place in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu county.

Other leaders who accompanied the DP’s brother were; Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, Soy MP Caleb Kostany and Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei.

According to The Star David Ruto’s event was held at his home near Ziwa market in Uasin Gishu. He is marrying Carol Kitur, the Koito involves negotiation of dowry by elders. It was led by DP Ruto from his brother’s team.

During the event, the groom is usually kept away until the negotiation is complete.
