The Kibra by-elections is set to take place on November 7 2019. The region has been known to be one of ODM’s strong hold. 23 candidates had eyed the ODM ticket, but the party announced that on 20 have been cleared.
Board chairperson Judith Pareno cleared the aspirants yesterday, she urged them to pay fees by midday Tuesday, August 27, or be locked out of the nomination.
Yesterday, the ODM Party twitted, “The NEB has today vetted and cleared 20 aspirants for the vacant Kibra seat to take part in the party nomination exercise scheduled for Saturday 31st August 2019. The cleared aspirants have up to tomorrow midday to pay the nomination fee to be eligible for the exercise.”
On the other hand, Jubilee Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, yesterday issued a statement stating that the party will field a candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election. “We would like to tell party members that Jubilee party will be fielding a candidate in the forthcoming Kibra Constituency by-election on November 7, 2019,” Tuju said.
“We are therefore giving notice to our members who are interested in contesting the seat on a Jubilee party ticket to forward their applications to National elections board.” he added.
