A census enumerator from Kigoto village, Homa Bay County was yesterday discontinued from the ongoing exercise after he left his duty in order to do his previous job of boda boda.
According to a report by Citizen Homa Bay’s County Commissioner, Harman Shambi stated that the enumerator’s contract was terminated after he deliberately left his work only to return to his previous job of riding a boda boda. He also added that the man was found transporting passengers with his motorcycle at a time when he was expected to be enumerating the area residents.
The man is also believed to have demonstrated inability to do the work, Suba Deputy County Commissioner Kamau Maina further stated that the enumerator covered only four households on Saturday night and went back home to sleep, returned on Sunday and covered one household before leaving again.
His position has otherwise been taken by a reserve enumerator.
