Today morning, police used teargas to disperse Kisumu Members of County Assembly who had gathered to stop Speaker Onyango Oloo from entering his office.
It is believed that Oloo had accessed the premises accompanied by his supporters, chaos erupted since the MCAs wanted him to clear his name over corruption allegations before he returns back in office.
Oloo is facing corruption charges regarding the Sh4.1 billion Kisumu Lake Basin Mall, which was put up when he was serving as the Chair of Lake Basin Development Authority.

According to report by TUKO On Tuesday, September 9, a group of rowdy youths staged protests at the county assembly calling for removal of Oloo even as MCAs met to decide on the fate of the embattled Speaker. His troubles started on September 6 after Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for his arrest and prosecution over-inflation of costs of the construction of a shopping mall in Kisumu for the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).
The DPP accused Oloo and his co-accused of deliberately inflating the costs of the project from KSh 2.5 billion to KSh 4.1 billion.
