Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has received a temporary relief after the High Court stopped an impeachment motion against him.

The motion filed by Makongeni member of County Assembly Peter Imwatok was set to come up for debate in the county assembly on Tuesday, March 3.

Governor Sonko’s lawyer was happy with the ruling, saying that the county assembly clerk personally admitted to not having received any the motion or verified signatures. Out of the 122 Nairobi MCAs, 115 attended a meeting scheduled by President Uhuru at State House on Saturday to discuss the new takeover of Nairobi County by the national government.

The MCAs were asked to act in their best interest of Nairobi residents by shelving plans to impeach Governor Sonko.
