Gabriel Akoth who appeared before resident magistrate Magistrate Muthoni Mwangi was charged with the offense of threatening life.

The court heard that on February 29, 2020, the accused sent a life-threatening message to Mr. Oriaro from his mobile phone. He demanded Ksh. 50,000 from the MCA who he accused of driving away from a European investor of Dominion Farms Limited from Yala Swamp.

The prosecution told the court that the accused had allegedly sent the message threatening to eliminate the MCA should he fail to send the money. The accused denied the charges, claiming he wanted to send the message to a different person but it mistakenly got sent to the MCA’s number.

The accused got slapped with a bond of Ksh. 200,000 and surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh. 40,000.

His plea was dismissed and he currently remains in custody in Siaya G.K. Prison until March 23, 2020, when his case will be mentioned again.
