The Cabinet has issued a warning to people spreading fake news on the coronavirus situation in Kenya and those found culpable will be dealt with per the established laws.

In a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday at the SSate House, it was directed that law enforcement agencies will pursue individuals spreading fake news on the virus.

The Cabinet further thanked media houses for using their platforms to air educational programs for school-going children.

The Cabinet further discussed and agreed to a request by the African Union and World Health Organization to host the African Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC), which will position Kenya as a regional and continental hub in medical research and disease control which will put the country in a better position to combat the virus.
