Peter Ndegwa is set to take over as Chief Executive Officer at Safaricom.

He is to succeed Bob Collymore, who died of cancer on July 1, 2019, making him the first Kenyan CEO to run the company.

Ndegwa is taking over from founding CEO Michael Joseph, who has been holding the position in acting capacity since the demise of Collymore.

The 51-year old takes the position at this time when businesss have been hard hit by the global pandemic of coronavirus, thereby forcing him to work from home.

H ewill be betting on M-Pesa, data businesses and Safaricom’s likely entry into Ethiopia to shape the leading telephone services company’s growth.
