President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday banned the movement in and out of Nairobi County as a measure to prevent further spread of the coronavirus in the country.
He also banned the movement in and out of three more counties, including Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa.
The cessation of movement will be effective for the next 21 days, with effect from 7 April at 7 pm. The decision was arrived at by the Ministry of Health as coronavirus cases rose to 158 and the 4 counties were declared as the COVID-19 infected areas.
The supply of food and other cargo will continue as normal during the declared lockdown period through road, rail, and air.
