An Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) is any aerial phenomenon that cannot immediately be identified. Most UFOs are identified in the investigation as conventional objects or phenomena. The term is widely used for claimed observations of extraterrestrial spacecraft.

The Pentagon has formally released 3 unclassified videos taken by Navy pilots of unidentified aerial phenomena, a step that comes after years of progress towards government transparency surrounding unidentified flying objects.
The videos, which were first published in 2017 show what appears to be unidentified flying objects rapidly moving while recorded by infrared cameras. Two of the videos contain service members reacting in awe at how quickly the objects are moving. One voice speculates that it could be a drone.
The Navy previously acknowledged the veracity of the videos in September last year, and they are officially releasing them now in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there were more videos.
The department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems.
