ODM women’s League Homa-Bay Branch has joined their colleagues across the nation in celebrating the Nomination of NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua as the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition deputy president flagbearer in the August general elections.

The Branch chairlady Peres Ogutu says the move by Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition to nominate Karua as running mate is an indication that women are now getting spaces in the top leadership of the country.

Speaking to the press in Homa-Bay town, Ogutu expresses their happies following the nomination of Karua, saying that Odinga has shown that he recognizes women in the political leadership.

She says that they are now sure that the interests of women and young girls will be taken care of if Odinga-Karua partnership clinches the August 9 State House race.

Rangwe Constituency ODM chairperson Caroline Owidho says the number of women in political leadership is likely to increase after the upcoming polls since ODM Party nominated a number of women in various positions from the MCAs to Governor’s seat.
